RoHS Exemptions used in Johanson Ceramic Capacitors

In order to meet the RoHS Compliancy Directive 2002/95/EC of The European
Parliament and of the Council of 27 January 2003, Johanson Dielectrics has made
changes in the ceramic materials used in its multilayer capacitors. With the RoHS/WEEE
Directives, Johanson Dielectrics is actively reducing and eliminating lead oxides in all
dielectric materials. However some dielectric materials contain residual amounts of lead
oxide. This lead content in ceramic capacitors is exempted from the requirements of the
directive. It’s stated in The Official Journal of the European Union dated 13.2.2003, L
37/23 Annex item 7 as“ lead in electronic ceramic parts (e.g. piezoelectronic devices ) “
which applies to the lead content in the ceramic of Johanson Dielectrics parts. Here is the exemption quoted from page L 37/23 of the complete Directive:
